Fine Art and Education

A New Mexico based artist working in ceramics, adobe, sound, video, and electronic media. “My practice focuses spending as much time in the desert as in the computer lab”. His work has exhibited internationally, showing in Germany, Miami, Santa Fe and Taos. Olguin completed an MFA in studio arts from The University of New Mexico in 2015, and a BA in Cinematic Arts from The University of New Mexico in 2012. His goals are to make and teach new media art along with socially engaged art practices.

Fine Art

Using electronic media, earthen materials, and time-based media, his work draws from his mixed Indigenous American and Spanish (mestizo) heritage. He incorporates traditional hand processes of earthen materials with modern elements.

Art Education

Assistant Professor of Art at Northern New Mexico College. STEAM workshops for k-12 focusing on earth sculpture, ceramics, electronic circuits, and indigenous earth sciences. Workshops have been held at the Taos Waldorf School, Marfa Public Schools, Explora, Working Classroom, Escuela del Sol, Albuquerque Public Schools and other pop-up events.
